Product Description


L-Menthyl Acetate is an organic compound with the formula C10H20O2. It is an ester that is commonly used as a flavoring agent and fragrance enhancer in food and beverage, as well as in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Its colorless and slightly viscous liquid has a pleasant minty odor with a sweet, cooling taste.


The main application of L-Menthyl Acetate is as a flavoring agent, mainly employed in the manufacture of chewing gum, bakery products, and food grade beverages. It is also used as a fragrance component in perfumery and perfumed cosmetics. In the pharmaceuticals industry, it is used as an excipient in topical medications and in the manufacture of antiseptic products.


L-Menthyl Acetate is produced by the reaction of 2-methylbutan-2-ol with acetic acid. It is a flammable and combustible material, with a flash point of 68°C and a boiling point of 206°C. It is practically insoluble in water, but miscible with most organic solvents.


In terms of safety and handling, L-Menthyl Acetate should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from sources of heat, sparks, and sunlight. It is not hazardous under normal working conditions, but eye and skin contact should be avoided. It is also advised to wear goggles and protective clothing while handling the compound.
