3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol (356-42-3) is a white crystalline odorless powder which is widely used as an intermediate in many major industrial chemical processes. It has a molecular formula of C5H3Cl3NO and a molecular weight of 190.4 g·mol−1.


356-42-3 is mainly used as anticoagulant in paints, rubber industry and paper industry. It is also used in paper bleaching in the printing and dyeing industry. In addition, 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol is used in the preparation of pharmaceutical intermediates such as thiazide diuretics and antihypertensives in the medicine industry.


356-42-3 has a good sterilizing and insecticidal effect with strong killing ability. Its application in pesticide and agrichemical products can effectively eliminate the occurrence of crop disease and pests. Moreover, it can be used as a catalyst in the petroleum industry, and as a germicide in the detergent industry.
