Dimethylpropanoic acid is a carboxylic acid which has the chemical formula C4H8O2, and is composed of the atoms carbon (C), hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O). It has the CAS number 2926-29-6 and it is also known as Methylacrylic acid or MMA. This colourless liquid has a acrid odour and it is miscible in water and alcohol and partially soluble in ether and ethyl acetate.


Dimethyl propanoic acid is an important component of many industrial products such as resins, paints, inks, coatings, and agricultural products. It is also a starting material for making high-performance compounds.
