2-Bromo-4-chloro-5-methyl-1-pentene is a colorless and volatile liquid. It has a boiling point of 101.2°C and a melting point of -72.2°C. It is insoluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents.
It is mainly used as a raw material in organic synthesis or a reagent in organic synthesis and can be used to synthesize a variety of organic compounds such as 2-bromo-4-chlorobenzaldehyde and 2-bromo-4-chloro-5-methyl-1-pentyne.
It is also used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and as a plasticizer for synthetic rubber and resins.
