2-Methyl-2-propanol, also known as isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is a clear, colourless, flammable, and volatile liquid with a characteristic odour. It is miscible in most organic solvents, as well as water and is a common ingredient in a variety of products.

IPA is a colourless, flammable liquid with a characteristic odor. Its boiling point is 82 degrees Celsius and its melting point is -90 degrees Celsius. Its viscosity increases with temperature and at 20 degrees Celsius, the viscosity is 1.0 cP. Its flash point is 11 degrees Celsius, making it highly flammable. It has a specific gravity of 0.785-0.793 at 20 degrees Celsius.

IPA is mainly used as a solvent for a variety of applications including cleaning, degreasing and paint stripping. It is also used in the production of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, as well as in the manufacture of a variety of chemicals. IPA can also be used as a fuel additive and as an antifreeze.

IPA is toxic if ingested and can cause irritation to the eyes and skin. Inhalation of the vapour or mist can cause irritation to the respiratory system. It is also highly flammable and should be kept away from sources of heat and sparks.

IPA is a versatile chemical with a wide range of applications. It is readily available and relatively low cost, making it a popular choice for many industries.
