CAS No. 5930-98-3 is a white to off-white powder, also known as 2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-Pentanediol Monoisobutyrate. It is a synthetic ester and an isobutyrate of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol, a branched-chain diol with the molecular formula C11H22O4. It is used in the production of various coatings, such as automotive refinish coatings and industrial wood finishes.

It is a premium quality, low-odor, low-viscosity polymer that is widely used in coatings as a plasticizer, coalescing agent and flow additive. Its low-odor and low-viscosity properties make it an ideal choice for waterborne coatings. It provides good solubility in aqueous systems and high compatibility with resins, while providing good adhesion, hardness, flexibility and abrasion resistance. It also helps improve the application properties of a coating, such as its leveling, flow, and sag resistance.

CAS No. 5930-98-3 is also used in other industrial applications, such as in the production of printing inks, adhesives, and sealants. In addition, it is used in the formulation of agrochemicals and personal care products. It is also used as a lubricant and softener in textiles and leather processing.

The product is stable under normal storage and handling conditions, and is compatible with a number of organic and inorganic materials. It is soluble in most organic solvents and is not hazardous in solid form.
