2-Butoxyethanol is used as a solvent for many organic and inorganic compounds including dyes, resins, oils, waxes and paints. It is also used as a surfactant, emulsifier, and coupling agent in formulations.


2-Butoxyethanol is an important intermediate in the production of alkyd resins, glycol ethers and other compounds. It is also used in degreasers, cleaners, and metalworking fluids.


2-Butoxyethanol is a hazardous material and should be handled with care. It is classified as a skin and eye irritant and its vapors are toxic. It should be stored in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry place.
