CAS No.14588-08-0 is a white crystalline powder, known as N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone, or NMP. As a kind of common polar solvent, NMP has excellent solubility, good miscibility with water, and strong solubility for polar organic solutes. It is miscible with a variety of organic solvents and can be used as a medium for many different chemical reactions.

NMP, CAS No.14588-08-0, has some unique physical and chemical properties, which make it useful in a variety of applications.


1) Industrial: NMP can be used as a solvent for coating formulations, inks, and wax dispersions. It is also used to dissolve polymers such as polysulfonamides, polyurethanes and polyamides, and is used as a medium in chemical reaction and in the manufacture of emulsions, adhesives and detergents.


2) Pharmaceutical: NMP is used in drug formulation as a solvent and drug delivery system.


3)Other: In addition to its use in industrial and pharmaceutical applications, NMP is also used in cosmetics, dyes and pigments, adhesives, textile processing, electronics, and as a corrosion inhibitor.
