Hexamethylenediamine (CAS NO: 12080-32-9) is a colorless liquid with an ammonia-like odor. It is a cyclic diamine with a molecular weight of 112.17 g/mol and a boiling point of 170°C. It is soluble in water, alcohol, and ether, and can be used as a monomer to produce polyamides, polyurethanes, and other polymers. It is also used as a catalyst in organic synthesis and as an intermediate in the production of nylon-6,6.

Hexamethylenediamine is an important intermediate for the production of nylon-6,6, which is widely used in the manufacture of automotive and industrial components such as tires, conveyor belts, and hoses. It is also used in the production of textiles, fibers, and carpets, as well as in adhesives, coatings, and inks. Hexamethylenediamine can also be used as a corrosion inhibitor and as a neutralizer for acid-base reactions.

Hexamethylenediamine is a flammable and toxic material, and should be handled with extreme care. It should be stored in a cool, dry place and away from heat and direct sunlight. When handling the material, proper safety equipment such as protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection should be worn. In the event of contact with skin or eyes, the affected area should be flushed with water and medical attention should be sought immediately.
